This is a really fun idea that I love to use with just the right set. There is a new set in the current mini catalog called Tart 'n Tangy and it is perfect for this technique. I find that using a stamp that is a little more solid works the best so that you have an area to scratch and you also want the image to be something that would smell. Preferably something that would smell good (hee hee).
To make the card smell you mix equal parts clear embossing powder and sugar free jello. You can also use sugar free kool-aid, crystal light etc. You just need to make sure there is no sugar in the product that you are using because the sugar will burn when you heat it. You then stamp your image using craft ink and then pour the embossing mixture over top and heat. It is very easy and makes an extra special card.
Supplies Used:
Stamp Set: Tart 'n Tangy and Short & Sweet
Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Whisper White & Pumpkin Pie
Ink: Pumpkin Pie Craft Ink
Accessories: Pumpkin Striped Ribbon, Scallop Circle Punch & Summer Picnic Designer Paper
Okay, now pull out your stamps and see what you can add a smell to. One of my favorite cards in the past was an ice cream cone with the scoops on the ice cream being scratch 'n sniff. It always got a wow when someone got it for their birthday. I hope you enjoy this idea.
Thanks for visiting. Have a great day!!!
Thank you so much for this info! now I can't wait to give it a try...
